The Do it, Girl call is for Mentor Me members who really want to work with other Mentor Me members and hold each other accountable to their goals and objectives. Although I am sure you currently have a time management system whether a calendar or an electronic format you want to use we would like you to consider using the Action Day 2010 Calendar.
We will go through this system to help you effectively plan and achieve your goals.
"Most of us go to our graves with our music still inside us, unplayed." Oliver Wendell Holmes
Ladies, are you ready to play your music for the world. One of the most powerful actions you can make is to look at all the moving parts of your life, the roles you play, the task you do, all should come into one accord as a symphony of one.
As we plan this year, planning doesn't start January 1 it is a lifestyle. As we understand what drives us to plan and want to organize our life, home, family or workplace we are seeking balance which comes from the internal pressure of life within.
Are you sure you want to go deeper? Are you sure you want to balance your life? Just for the the record if you flatline you would be dead. Balance doesn't always mean that we need equality it means that we must do what matters most to relieve the internal pressure we seek.
These calls are designed to help you focus, gain clarity about a few things so that you can measure progress in your life. These calls are about accountability for the words you speak and the actions you want to take. As we move forward together we all will grow stronger, become more balanced and get more done, faster.
What will I master? 1. I will master solving those things that frustrate me and become barriers to my goals. 2. I will master my brand you attitude! My attitude about life can be a direct barrier or a launching pad to achieving my goals. 3. I will master WomanThink! I will develop the habit of thinking through my ideas! 4. I will master Closing the Execution Gap! 5. I will master setting goals and achieving them! 6. I will master aligning my values with my actions!
What is the format to our calls? Do It Girl (DIG) calls are approximately 30-45 minutes in length. The objective of the call is that we are going to focus on planning our week. We will also have a blended teaching and coaching approach when necessary. We are going to dig ourselves out of ruts, dig through tough choices, dig for what matters most and dig our way out of that valley until we see a mountain we can climb from all of the clutter of our lives.
How can I prepare for the calls? You will need to purchase a Action Day 2010 planner. This planner will keep you focused on the goals and objectives of the call and also introduce you to a new way of planning. Through much research and careful planning WAN choose this calendar because it speaks our language of execution. Our planning system is divided into four parts all to be included in our bucket for the week. You will need a bucket to get rid of some of the things you dig!
1. The Bucket - A diary section. An overview of each day of the week. (this should include appointments, designated times for executable steps, meetings.) We all own the same size bucket - 24 hours, 7 days a week. What will you do with your bucket? Will it be filled with things that matter or will you sweat the small stuff?
2. Small stones, water, sand - Tasks to execute, e.g. phone calls, computer work other matters After we identify task, if they can't be completed in 5 minutes or less we will schedule them for a specific time in the diary (bucket) or weekly calendar. If you can do it now, get it done and it does not need to be on your task list. These are all the things that fit around the big rocks. Trust that you will have plenty of space to get the sand out of your shoes! 3. The Big Rocks - Goals and projects that we intend to work on each week.
Write down all projects and goals that you have committed yourself to deal with during each week. - Identify the goal/project
- Verbally speak and write the next action step (WomanThink on a separate sheet or back of your book). Walk it out in your mind!
The big rocks are the things that matter most that must be done. i.e. standing appointments, family, spouse, children, things that are important to you, like sharpening your saw physcially, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. You wil also discover big rocks when you identify the projects and goals you must accomplish for the week. 4. Other People's Bucket - Projects delegated this week. Information on projects that we have handed to others or matters that are being handled by others. (Verify and followup keys to successful execution). How to successfully delegate to others: - Be Clear and Concise in your communication. If you think for a split second that your desire or instruction is not understood, be clearer.
- Explain the importance of the task to be delegated. The death of any leader is delegating a task to someone you know will fail.
- Encourage the person that you believe in their ability and gifts to boost their confidence to finish.
- Check, verify, follow-up and give feedback.
- Give compliments. (Kiss-Kick-Kiss, if necessary) Compliment, Constructive/Corrective Feedback, Compliment if necessary.
How do we succeed at planning and achieving our goals?
1. Make lists - write down your
2. Set aside time to plan Tuesday's Do It Girl Call @ 7pm CST
3. Tackle the Big Rocks first. Eat that frog one bite at a time. Own the Result! 4. Execute your list- Stay focus on the things that will contribute to your top line and your bottom line results!
Practice the 80/20 rule Examine everything you have to do. For example if you listed 10 task and each represented 10% of your activity. Ask yourself this question: Which 20% of your activitices generate 80% positive results. Focus on the 20% factors that will give you 80% of the results you want. Learn to postpone less important things (80%) and return to them later! Eat that frog, its the 20% you avoid! No one wants to eat that frog but you have to develop a healthy appetite for eating ugly frogs so you can get what you want in life!
